Being pregnant brings out all the laziness in me. I have hardly even had any pictures to blog about, let alone get around to blogging, it is pretty pathetic. I guess I will give a quick pregnancy update, I am 15 weeks and within the last 2 days feel like I have grown a ton and I have noticed it is getting harder to lean over and pick something up. Good news is only about 5 more weeks til we get to find out if this baby is going to be a boy or girl. I have been feeling mostly good, I have my moments but I guess I should be thankful that it has gone fairly well this time around.

Now for a Kaiden update, he is going to be 18 months old in a little over a week, a whole year and a half!!! He is getting so big. He runs and climbs and is all over crazy still. He is really starting to get better at talking, or I should say, saying words. His favorite word, of course, is ball, and his main ones that he is good at is mama, dada, please, thank you, choo choo, yellow, purple, blue, sippy but pronounced "ippy", banana, that's all I can really think of right now but ya, he is starting to get better and copying what we say. It is cute. He does have a little bit of a spoiled issue, he is kinda pushy in nursery sometimes and grabby but I guess pretty much all of the kids do it. I just hope he grows out of it. Maybe having a sibling will humble him a bit :). And we really do have a Jimmer in the making. Kaiden loves playing basketball. All he likes to do all day is shoot hoops and whenever he sees a basketball hoop anywhere, he does his practice shot and pretends to shoot a ball and does the wrist follow through and everything. He is a natural, Spencer has tried to teach him a little bit but he just started doing it and he loves it. Now for the few pictures I did take over the last month or so:

We had some time to kill before a BYU basketball game and stopped at the Provo Beach Resort and Kaiden rode the carousel. He was so excited to get on. (I know there is a creepy panda in the background)

Ready for Spring

Well life around here is about to change big time with the new baby news. I am due August 27th. I hate to be a complainer but it's during volleyball season again (and I don't have any coaches so if anyone wants to coach or knows anyone let me know) and I don't get to have any fun this summer again. But on the bright side, I have been feeling much better this time around. I feel nauseous from time to time and mostly in the evenings but I have only thrown up once so far. Trust me, this is a huge improvement from last time. I think with Kaiden I laid in bed for 2 months straight wanting to die. The down side is I have to eat every few hours to keep from feeling sick and normally you would think for me this would be awesome except the fact that being pregnant for me means nothing sounds good to eat.

Anyways, we are excited to add to our family. We have always agreed that we want our kids to be close together in age. We weren't sure how long it would take this time to get pregnant and we were hoping it would have been a couple months sooner but I guess they come on their own time. Spencer's hoping for a girl but either way for me. A girl will be more expensive because I will have to buy new everything but we definitely eventually want one of each gender. But a boy will give Kaiden a playmate and we already have everything for a boy. So either way, we are excited and let's hope that the next 29 weeks can go fast!!

Moving on, remember when it actually snowed like a few inches a couple weeks ago? Well we were finally able to use Kaiden's snow clothes and go out. Even though he only lasted a few minutes, (he kept getting distracted by the sandbox and wanted to go play in that instead) Kaiden had fun and I think he likes the snow.

And remember how it has been unusually warm and mild this winter? Well a couple days ago, Kaiden and I couldn't resist breaking out the stroller and going to the park to see the ducks and swing in the swings. Kaiden absolutely loves being outside and we are definitely getting ready for spring to come so we can go out more often. Isn't Kaiden so cute?!!

Little Update

Not much has really been going on these days. And I have been horrible at taking pictures. I feel like it needs to be spring so we can go outside and play or it needs to snow more than half an inch so we can go outside and play. Kaiden and I are sick of being cooped up inside so much.

Kaiden wasn't feeling very good about a week and a half ago and he would be so sad all the time and he didn't really want to eat. One morning I put Kaiden in his high chair and all he wanted was his blanket and he just kept laying his head down.

There was a really warm Saturday a couple weeks ago and my grandparents still had a bunch of leaves that needed to be raked up so Spencer, Kaiden and I went over to take care of them. Kaiden was so good and just loved being outside and was wandering around and trying to help rake the leaves and would pick up one leaf at a time and put it in the bag. It was cute. Spencer had a big pile of leaves and we decided to throw Kaiden in it. He wasn't too sure about it.

Getting Crafty

It turns out that Spencer and I are a little crafty. We decided that since we are poor and my mom's birthday is right before Christmas, we were going to make her birthday gift. It was really simple. We went to DI and bought some glass jars then put rubber bands and stickers on them then spray painted them with frost.

After they dried, we took the rubber bands and stickers off (the stickers took forever to get off, we should have picked an easier shape). Then we put candle lights inside and they were done! I think they turned out good.

After Christmas, we had so many toys and no where to put them all. Spencer has been wanting to

build a toy box for a long time now and since he got the saws and tools that he wanted for Christmas, he finally decided to do it. It took him an entire day to build it. He was so involved in it and enjoying it so much that he didn't even stop to eat the whole day. He really loves building stuff with wood and this project also turned out really good. Maybe we can have a cleaner house now and somewhere to put the toys until someday when we have enough space that we have a whole room dedicated for toys and playing. Someday.....

I have been having a lot of fun with my new camera lately and I have been using Kaiden as my model. My camera has some pretty cool settings and I have been messing around with them. So here a bunch of random pictures :)

We had such a good Christmas again this year. We are so blessed and SPOILED! Especially Kaiden, he got so much stuff that it still is spread all over my house 6 days after Christmas. He sure is lucky being the only grandchild still ;).

We stayed the night Christmas Eve at my parents house so I thought I should take a picture of our cute little tree before we left. I should have taken the picture when we first put it put and it still looked normal. The ornaments kept getting higher and higher on the tree as Kaiden kept trying to destroy it. That's Kaiden's motto right now, destroy anything he can! So anyways, the bottom half of the tree is a little ragged.

On Christmas Eve, we had our traditional dinner and program at my Grandma Carter's house. My mom put me in charge of it this year and it was short and sweet :) Then we had traditional Christmas Eve pj's to open. Kaiden got his first taste of opening presents before the big day.

Kaiden slept in til 10 am Christmas morning after we kept him up so late the night before. That might be the last time that happens. He woke up with the craziest hair.

Then it was on to the fun. He did his stocking first and wanted to eat all the treats already.

Then we got him to open a few presents but it didn't last long.

It was more fun to climb on the boxes and sit on them.

The first toy he opened he liked and he didn't care to open anymore. Spencer and I ended up opening most of his presents for him.

After opening presents, we went to church. It was weird going to church on Christmas but it was good to feel the spirit and remember why we celebrate Christmas after all. We took some pictures of us after church all dressed up.

We got to talk to and see my cousin Elder Nate Hoffman on the internet which was fun. After church, we were off to Grandma Carters, Grandma Faux, and then the Johnson's for Christmas dinner. Overall, we had a great day with family. I just realized I neglected to take pictures of Spencer and I opening any presents, haha, Kaiden is cuter though. Just know that we got spoiled too. This blogging experience is going really well for me because of my our new laptop that doesn't take a million years to load each page! Plus from now on, hopefully my pictures are better since we have a new camera too. I'm finally up to date with technology, at least I think.

The Zoo and Christmas Parties

A couple weeks ago, we went with our friends Kristen and Spencer and their cute little girl Ella to the Zoo lights. I have to be honest, I don't recommend it. We hardly could see any animals it was so dark and all the enclosures lights were off and the animals we did see were all asleep mostly. We really only saw monkeys, reptiles, and small animals. We did see the tigers but that was the only large animal we saw. Not to mention it was freezing! Next time we will have to go on a warm, sunny, summer day. It was good to catch up with our friends Kristen and Spencer (we didn't take a group picture though??).

We also had two Christmas parties this weekend. One was with the Johnson side of the family and the other with the Faux side. I don't know a lot of people on the Johnson side of the family so it was a little awkward but they were both fun and we had a lot of good food.

Thanksgiving and a Crazy Kid

Thanksgiving this year was busy. Last year on Thanksgiving we were in Disneyland but it was nice to have a traditional sit down dinner twice. We went to Spencer's grandmas house first then we went to my parents house. We saw lots of family and cousins too. Unfortunately, I didn't take a lot of pictures and only have 2 decent ones. Too busy eating, you know me and my food ;)

If anybody out there has had or has a child that is about 15 months old, you should know that you can never sit down. Or maybe it's just me and my crazy kid?? He is so cute and can drive you crazy all at the same time. It is such a fun stage but it can be hard sometimes. He is learning words but most of the time he screams and points and it is hard figuring out what he wants. Also, he got Spencer's picky genes. He likes things but wont eat them unless he wants them. He goes on streaks of only wanting a certain food so I buy some then he wont eat it anymore and he is on to something new, even though I know he likes it! And when I am at church roaming the halls with him, everyone always asks me, "when does he go to nursery?" and I say "not til March" and then their response, "you can do it!" Hahaha. This is usually other moms that know what its like.

He also squishes into the little space between the stairs and bookcase, that's when he's not yanking all the books off

First visit with Santa, not too successful, maybe next year. It looks like a smile almost but it's really not

Always a mess

I have been taking Kaiden to all of the BYU basketball games with me and he surprisingly does really good (Spencer has to miss a lot becasue of work :( but I still have a cute date). He actually holds fairly still, in fact, he does better at the basketball games than he does at church. I'm betting on him to be BYU's next Jimmer. They say players like Jimmer and Danny Ainge only come around every few decades so in 2 more decades, Kaiden can be the next Jimmer. I'm feeling like basketball might be his thing, I don't know...... Catching Up

The last couple months:

We went to Park City for Conference. Kaiden tried to play tennis.

We went on a roller coaster ride up the mountains, we highly recommend it, it was way fun.

We rode up the tram at Park City Resort, Kaiden was exploring, this was before he ate a rock....

We carved pumpkins for Halloween, Kaiden kept good care of them.

We had our last walk in the park before Winter.

We ran into Jimmer, best day ever, these are the only 2 pictures we got but at least we met him.

My volleyball season ended, these are 4 of my 6 seniors that I won't be getting back :(

Kaiden became independent, he has to feed himself which equals a mess, big mess.

We had a little monster running around for Halloween. The cutest monster ever!

We started BYU basketball games again! Yay!!

Kaiden doesn't need toys, he just needs spoons or spatulas or tupperware.

Kaiden's First Birthday (2 Months Late)

Kaiden turned 1!!!
Kaiden's birthday was September 13th and we had a big party for him on September 10th at my parents house. The theme was baseball (of course) and I put a lot of time and effort into it even though Kaiden won't remember any of it. At least the pictures are cute and he can remember that.

These pictures were taken on his actual birthday, September 13th!! I can't believe my baby is 1 years old already. It has been an amazing year and he has changed my life for the better. Even though he is always getting into things he isn't supposed to and he never stops going and going, he is always so happy and smiling and I love him so much.

Thinking Warm

Well a storm is supposedly coming so while it's freezing outside, think warm thoughts while looking at the rest of our Lake Powell pictures I needed to post.

With the lake being at it's highest point I have ever seen, we were able to drive the sea-doos into what we call the butt crack. It is a little canyon and we took the sea-doos as far as they would go then left them and hiked up through the canyon. We took our life jackets with us because we didn't want anyone to steal them and it ended up being a good thing because there were parts that were wide open space and with no shade and no shoes it was so hot that our feet would burn and we would stop and take our life jackets off and stand on them to let our feet cool down. I kind of freaked out at a few parts of the hike too because there were holes that were 7-8 feet deep and we had to scale the walls around them and I got so scared I was going to fall into one and be stuck. But over all, it was so much fun and I'm glad I made it out alive!!

The Other Half of Summer

We have been having too much fun this summer. I haven't even had time to post what we have been up to. Here is a huge picture update of the fun things we have done this summer.

In July, we went camping up Spanish Fork Canyon. We only stayed one night and it ended up being colder than we thought it would be during the night that we were worried about Kaiden being too cold. We ended up sleeping in the back of the Yukon which was not comfortable at all. Overall though, the trip was fun and it was good to be outdoors.

I am a horrible blogger....anyways, summer has been great so far and I never want it to end. Pictures tell the story of the summer so far.

Kaiden is still so darn cute!

10 Months old!

Summer has been great so far and Kaiden is doing amazing. He had his tear duct surgery the end of June and his eyes are so much better. No more watering or goopy eyes. We also did some sleep training and he now sleeps all night again. He weighs probably around 23 pounds and he crawls all over and climbs on anything. He finally started to chew things and he loves to eat Yogurtmelts and Kix. He has 8 teeth, 4 on top and 4 on bottom and I think he is getting more. Spencer has been working at Nuskin still and riding his bike all over. I am getting ready for another volleyball season to start in another week so we are all busy! I just wish summer never had to end.

Utah Valley Half Marathon

On June 11th, Spencer, Jen, and I ran the Utah Valley Half Marathon. We had to get up at 3:30 am to ride the bus up to the starting line since the race started at 6 am up Provo Canyon. It was our first race and we have been training for it for the last 3 months. I was nervous but excited. Mine and Spencer's goal was to get 1 hour 45 minutes. We ended up meeting our goal and getting it in 1:44;29. We even had 31 seconds to spare. Jen finished exactly 3 minutes ahead of us. The race ended at the Provo Tabernacle by Center Street in Provo. Running down the canyon went by so fast, the last the 4 miles of the straight away down Avenue seemed like it took forever. We were number 185 and 186 to cross the finish line out of almost 2000 people. I am so happy that we were able to accomplish this goal we had and we have been having fun getting into shape together while we worked towards it. Thanks Spencer and Jen for running it with me!

8 Months in May

It is impossible for me to update this regularly but here is some things that happened in May.

Kaiden became mobile and got stuck underneath the coffee table.

My family all went down to Gunnison to visit my great grandma, so Kaiden's great great grandma. We went to the old farm, on the windiest day ever, and had some fun on the tractor.

Kaiden gets into everything now, he dumped over his entire bucket of toys at grandma's house.

He is a crazy sleeper, haha.

He loves playing outside and being on the grass.

He crawls EVERYWHERE now!

I had my 25th birthday and Spencer had his 26th birthday! We are getting old.

Kaiden stands up in his crib. We had to hurry and lower the mattress all the way to the bottom one night when we discovered Kaiden could stand up.

Kaiden is such a happy baby still. He has had 3 ear infections in the last 3 months though so hopefully he doesn't get anymore or he will have to get tubes. He is also having surgery on his eyes this week to have his tear ducts opened up so no more watery and goopy eyes. His top teeth are starting to come in finally. He has had his bottom 2 teeth since he was 4 months old. He crawls everywhere and fast and loves to stand up against everything. He loves to climb the stairs but doesn't know how to go down yet. He is always getting into things he isn't supposed to so you have to always be on your toes. He is fun and we love him so much.

It's been an amazing 5 years!! Time goes by so fast and we are more in love today then back then. Bring on the next 5 years!

We have been up to a lot of fun stuff lately that it has been hard to find time to blog it all. I'm going to try to do better at blogging more often so that I don't have huge posts. FYI, this is going to be one of those huge posts with a lot of pictures ;). So this is what we have been up to:

KAIDEN

SKIING

Me and Spencer went skiing up at Sundance. It was Spencers first time ever snow skiing and he loved it. I knew that he would. Our friends Jen and Trevor took us up and re-taught me how to ski and also taught Spencer. I hadn't been since I was probably in Junior High. We were so bummed to find out that once we finally got out skiing, Sundance was closing in 2 more days. It was the very end of skiing season. The good thing about this though was that it was so warm that day. It was 70 degrees and I even saw someone skiing down the mountain in a Jimmer jersey, it was pretty sweet. We definitely plan on teaching Kaiden in a few years how to ski and we plan on going more often.

So much has been going on the last month. Mainly, BYU basketball and Jimmer and the Sweet Sixteen!! We are so proud of the Cougars for making it that far and so sad for the loss against Florida, and we were so close. We (especially me) will really miss Jimmer!!! And Jackson too.

Also, Kaiden has been growing like crazy and getting so big. He is 6 months old now and such a good baby. He loves sitting up and tries so hard to sit up but can't do it. But he can pretty much stay in a sitting up position for a long time now by himself. He rolls all over the place now and even so much that in his crib at night, he rolls onto his stomach and then for some reason, just in his crib, he can't get back to his back and he starts screaming. Some nights we have to get up a couple times to roll him back over. He usually sleeps all throughout the night though. He has had another ear infection recently but he is a tough boy. He loves talking baby talk and spitting and sticking out his tongue. He is such a fun little boy, we are so blessed to have him.

The Mountain West Conference tournament was in Las Vegas, again, and me and Kaiden were able to go with my parents and grandparents. Spencer, unfortunately, was not able to come because he had an anatomy midterm. We were really sad he couldn't be there. The weather was so nice and warm, 80 degrees! Kaiden got his first taste of summer and shorts and swimming.

Kaiden was 5 months old on February 13th and I cannot believe how fast time is flying by. He loves basketball!! He has a life size poster of Jimmer and Jackson in his bedroom and a poster with the whole BYU team signed that he loves to look at and smile and laugh at (pics to come). Spencer bought him a little basketball that he loves playing with. We have been going to every BYU basketball game and watching the away games on tv. Kaiden doesn't always come to the games because the loud noises scare him. We are obsessed (mostly me) and we can't wait for Kaiden to learn how to play himself.

These days, we are on a pretty good schedule and he sleeps about 12 hours straight every night, which I love. He loves squash and sweet potatoes and we are still slowly introducing new foods to him. He is rolling better these days and is just about ready to be rolling like crazy. He will roll to his sides a ton to try and grab a toy. In fact, he is grabbing everything now. Pretty soon he is going to be crawling! Baby gates and baby proofing our house, here we come!!!

My baby is getting so big!! It makes me sad but happy at the same time. Kaiden is now a little over 4 months old. At his 4 month appointment, he weighed 16 lbs. 2 oz and was in the 70%. For his height, he was 26 inches long and was in the 85%, hopefully that means he is going to be tall!! He has been doing so good and growing so much. He doesn't like to roll too much yet but that's ok with me, it means he can't get away from me yet. He is starting to do a lot of baby talk and it is so cute! We got him on a schedule and going to be earlier and it has helped, I would recommend it. He usually sleeps from 8 til 8 so I am getting some good sleep these days, at least most of the time.

I should give an update about Spencer-he is taking anatomy (again) and studying like crazy. Some days me and Kaiden don't get to see him much. But we are proud of him and hope he keeps pushing along-he is hoping to graduate in December from UVU.

On Christmas morning, we opened up a few presents at our house before going to our families houses. It was so fun to be able to have him there with us on Christmas morning and to give him presents even though he doesn't really care this year about them.

After opening presents at our house, we went to my parents to open more presents. We also went to Spencer's families house for more presents. This Thanksgiving we went to Disneyland with my family. Spencer had never been before and he loved it. We stayed in Newport and our hotel was amazing. The weather was a lot better than the freezing cold weather here. Kaiden was so good to travel with, he slept on the airplane and most of Disneyland! Kaiden and Spencer are going to have their first visit to the happiest place on earth (they have never been there)!!! We are so excited to go with my family to California and get out of the cold and snow and have our first experience of Disneyland as a family. On November 7, 2010 Spencer blessed our son Kaiden at church. We had a ton of family and friends come to support us. Spencer did a really good job and Kaiden looked really cute. I was really praying that he wouldn't cry or fuss during his blessing and my prayers were answered, he was totally quiet the entire meeting. It was a good day!!

My cousin Allison also blessed her baby Scarlett that morning so it was a busy day. The babies needed to take a snooze with all the excitement going on.

Life the Last 2 Months

A lot has happened the last 2 months since Kaiden was born. He is now 7 weeks old and growing SO fast. We are both getting more used to everything although I have realized that it is a lot harder than you think it is going to be to have a newborn baby. I thought I would have so much extra time and that I would be bored but that definitely hasn't happened. I feel like all day I am busy doing nothing except taking care of Kaiden and it is hard to get other things done (like blogging).
This week we found out that the poor little guy has an ear infection. He was being really fussy for a few days and he wasn't sleeping or eating well and his crying sounded like he was in pain so we took him to the doctor. With some medicine, he is doing much much better only waking up once during the night, usually after sleeping for 6 hours straight. He is definitely growing though and starting to get chunky legs and cheeks. He doesn't fit his newborn clothes anymore and is filling out his 3 month clothes already. It makes me sad that he is growing so fast but I guess it's a good thing. Here some pictures of what we have been up to the last few months.

I was getting ready the other day and had Kaiden sitting in the boppy pillow, after sitting there happily for an hour, I checked on him again and he had fallen asleep, so cute.

This post is going to be an overload of pictures but I just can't help it, I love my little boy so much and there are so many cute pictures already.

This is me at 40 weeks, the day before I had him.

Labor Story: September 13, 2010

The doctor said I was dialated enough to get induced on Monday morning the 13th. The hospital was supposed to call me that morning and they said it would probably be early, around 5:30 or 6 am. So I didn't really sleep that night and was up early waiting for the phone call. By 8 am, I called the hospital to see if they forgot about me and they said they were busy, they would call when they were ready. Finally, they called and said to come at 10 am. I got to the hospital and got all hooked up and they started the pitocin around 11:15 am. I was already having contractions every 3-4 minutes but they weren't strong. The doctor came in about an hour later and broke my water. After that, my contractions got really strong. I was in a lot of pain at this point and so I got my epidural. That made a huge difference and helped a lot but it is a weird feeling not being able to feel your legs. When I got to the hospital, I was dialated to a 3 and by about 3:15 pm, I was already dialated to a 10. The nurses were amazed at how fast I progressed. They had me start pushing and Kaiden was facing up instead of facing down. I pushed for about an hour and he had turned himself to the right direction. The doctor came in and a few minutes later, he was here. It was 4:44 pm. I had to have an episiotomy and I tore still. Spencer didn't get to cut the cord because they were worried about his maconium so they used the vacuum and pulled him out fast and rushed him over to suck all the gunk out of him. The whole thing lasted less than 5 hours and I am so thankful that it wasn't too long, I had heard some horror stories about 24 hour labor.

This was Kaiden right after he was born getting everything sucked out, I still hadn't been able to see him yet at this point.

39 Weeks.....Still No Baby

I am 39 Weeks today and Kaiden still hasn't come. I was really hoping that he would be here by now, maybe sometime this weekend, I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Both me and Spencer are ready for this little guy to come so . . . . we just keep waiting. I had my membranes stripped on Monday and nothing and then again yesterday and still nothing. I have had a feeling that he would come before my due date but maybe I am just trying to talk myself into it or else he is waiting til Friday, the day before ;) By the way, everyone is telling us different things to do and try to get labor going and so far, none of them work.

My cousin Allison is also pregnant and she is 4 weeks ahead of me. We had a combined shower for the Carter side of the family while everyone was in town. It was a lot of fun and I got the cutest and nicest things. Also, the decorations and food was amazing thanks to Allison, she is so creative. She came up with the "2 Peas in a Pod" theme and she did a great job.

My Favorite Place in the World!! Lake Powell 2010

We were able to spend a week in Lake Powell with most of the Carter side of my family. It was a ton of fun and it was so nice to get away and relax and not turn my phone on for a full week!! The only thing that wasn't so fun was that I wasn't able to do ANYTHING except sit there. No wakeboarding, skiing, tubing, or jet skiing for me :( So instead of participating in the fun, I took a lot of pictures so it was hard to pick only a few to post. But overall, we had a great time and the water was great, still the best place to go in my opinion.

Since we had the day off on July 5th, we decided to go to the lake with Jen and Chris and their friends Shawn and Arielle. It was our first time out for the year which is sad but it was a lot of fun and it felt good just to be out on the water. I couldn't do anything except ride in the boat and take pictures which was kind of a bummer but I guess I will have to wait til next year.

Baby Bump Update

Here is my 28 week picture. I can't believe I am already getting towards the end. I am starting to feel big and uncomfortable and HOT!! The doctor said everything is going good and I am still on track. I still hate the gaining weight thing and I feel like I am hungry ALL THE TIME!!! I eat and an hour later, I am hungry again. The good part about it is I can't really eat a ton all at once so even though I am eating really often, I am not eating tons all at once. I have been feeling good and I feel our little guy kicking or moving around all the time now. I can't wait for him to come and to see what he will look like, even though the thought of him being here is scary too because I really don't know what I am doing and I still have a ton of things I need and things to do to get ready.

Update on Garden

I planted a pot before and had a few problems and it died. I didn't have holes in the bottom for drainage and so the water was just pooling up. So we drilled holes and it dried right up instead even though I kept watering it. The guy at the store had told us what soil to buy and it was the wrong stuff. It smelled like a farm really bad and leaked like black, gooey stuff and it was a mess and apparently the gases in the soil is what killed the plants. So, I started all over with my pot with new dirt and plants and it looks even better now.

We have been doing a lot of work to remodel our 2nd bedroom and make it a nursery for Kaiden. Spencer has done most of the work and he has done a really good job. I am so glad that I married such a good handyman that knows how to use tools and build things. He loves working with wood and doing projects like this. He really does such good work down to the very last detail. We still have some finishing touches to add to the room but this is what we have got so far.

St. George Anniversary Weekend

For our 4th anniversary, Spencer surprised me by suggesting we go to St. George for the weekend and go to the Tuacahn to see the play Tarzan. Since we never do anything like this, I had to say yes. It was a couple weeks after our actual anniversary but it was still so much fun to get away on our own. We drove down Friday and went to the show which was amazing but I was very HOT and I swear Kaiden was pinching something up in my rib so it was hard for me to focus.

On Saturday, we went to the pool and just took it easy and hung out. We took a tour of the Jacob Hamblin home which was pretty cool, did some Father's day shopping and saw some real polygamists at Walmart, went to a movie, and then stopped to see the temple with the lights on.

May Birthdays

May is a party month for us. First of all, summer is coming so that is a celebration, even though it has been cold weather for May. Second, both me and Spencer have a birthday. My birthday is May 21 and Spencer's is May 23. We decided to take off the 21st since it was a Friday. Spencer is so sweet to me and surprised me with not one, but two new Victoria Secret perfumes. My favorite Heavenly and a new one called Sexy Little Things Noir. I guess it's a hint that I need to smell better ;) Spencer picked out some new shoes and some batting gloves that he is going to use to ride his bike with. On Friday night, we went to Tucanos and then to see the movie "Robin Hood" with my family. The food and movie was pretty good.

On Sunday which was Spencer's birthday we had cake and ice cream at my parents house and all of Spencer's family and my family came. It was a fun party weekend and now I guess we have to wait for another year!

In the meantime, I am now 24 weeks or 6 months along. I have been feeling good still except the night before my birthday when I ate a hamburger with a spice on it that gave me bad heartburn at 2 am and then made me throw up and seriously burned my throat :( It was a bad start to my birthday. But other than that, things are going good. I am growing and gaining weight which is really hard for me. I don't like gaining weight even though I know I need to. We have been doing a ton of work on Kaiden's room and hopefully that will be done soon and I will be able to post some pictures.

My Garden

Last year I had a weed patch instead of a garden. I wish I would have taken a before picture but what we did was took out all the weeds, added the curbing, planted a bunch of flowers and plants, and put some grass seed in the bare spot that didn't have any grass. It is going to take a while for it to grow and blossom and look pretty but here is what it looks like for now. I also planted a pot for my back patio and bought a hanging planter that I loved. Spencer even helped me do all the planting and weeding, even though he doesn't really like doing that kind of stuff. He is so nice :)

Everything is going pretty good right now. I have been feeling a lot better and don't really have a lot of complaints right now. Kaiden is healthy and growing and I am getting bigger and starting to gain weight. I have found out that eating regularly and often makes me feel better and keeps the nausea away. Eating more often=gaining weight. This part about the whole thing is hard for me because I am just not used to gaining weight and not being able to workout hard like I used to. But the good news is I am halfway there and now only the hot summer months ahead!!

We have started working on the nursery and we have big plans and a lot of work to do so it will be a gradual process. It is fun to finally know what we are having so that we can start decorating and planning. I don't know how people don't find out ahead of time what they are having, I am too OCD and I have to plan and be prepared.

A couple weeks ago we went on a four-wheel ride up the hills of Alpine with Jen and Chris. Don't worry, Spencer wouldn't let me drive (from a previous almost rollover experience) and he went very slow. We took a lunch with us and rode all around.

This is Socks, Chris' dog. As soon as the 4 wheelers get pulled out, he starts barking because he is so excited to go. He followed us up out of the neighborhood and into the hills. We thought he had long stopped because he is 12 years old but as we were eating lunch, here comes Socks up the hills to where we were. And he kept following us up and down hills and all the way home the rest of the trip. He loves it, but what a crazy dog!!

We found out that we are having a boy!! We are so excited and can't wait for our little guy to come. Spencer already bought him his first little baseball glove. The doctor said everything looks good and healthy. We are naming him Kaiden Nielsen Johnson. Nielsen is for my dad who doesn't have any boys to carry on his name. I haven't had time to scan the pictures yet but they are coming soon. We are just so glad the girl curse hasn't got us ;) although a little girl would have been fun too.

Baby Update and Pictures

It has been a while since I have updated about the pregnancy. I am now 17 weeks along and definitely growing. The nausea has gotten so much better. I don't lay around and do nothing anymore. I have been working a lot again and I have had a lot more energy. I still take my nausea pills but I only take one a day instead of two. I have only thrown up probably 3 or 4 times in the last month. Everybody said that in the second trimester you feel a lot better and I am so glad to find out that they were right.

I only have a couple complaints now, one is that I still have a little constipation but that has gotten a lot better too. I also have noticed that I now have to get up every single night to go to the bathroom without fail. And another thing that has been bothering me is my hips-when I am sleeping on my side, I wake up and the outside of my hip hurts and aches and so I have to roll over to the other side until I wake up again and that side hurts. I switch sides all night long and I can't sleep on my back or stomach so I have no other options. Some nights are worse than others and I have never had this happen before so I guess it is related to pregnancy.

And instead of not being able to eat at all when I was feeling really sick, I now have to eat all the time. I will eat and 20 minutes later feel like I haven't even eaten anything at all. I always have to carry snacks and water with me and eat something every hour or two. When I get really hungry and go for a long time without food, that is when I feel really nauseous. That may sound like I am a huge pig but they are just snacks and small meals. I am almost back to my pre-pregnancy weight since I lost so much when I was sick so I technically haven't gained any weight yet.

On April 23rd, I have my first ultrasound and I will officially be halfway at that point. I can't wait to find out if the baby is going to be a boy or a girl. Whenever I think about decorating and planning, I think about and imagine a boy but who knows. I will post an update then on what we find out!! Only a couple more weeks then I can really start planning and decorating and buying things.

St. George Weekend

Spencer had a couple days off of school for Spring Break so we decided to go with Spencer's family to St. George for the weekend while Skylar played in a baseball tournament. We took some mats and slept on the floor but it was a fun and fast trip and we even got some sun!

There was a lot of baseball so we spent some time watching Skylar and his team play. They didn't do as good as they wanted to but it was their first tournament playing together. Skylar did really good though and even had a home-run.

I'm Back

It has been a while since I have written but I haven't had a lot to write about. This is what I have been doing lately:

Watching as much of the Olympics as I could, which wasn't hard with the way I have been feeling.

Some of my favorite things to watch was Shauni Davis and Apolo Ohno and the speedtrack races, Shaun White and snowboarding, and Lyndsey Vonn and the downhill skiing. The downhill skiing looks like so much fun to go that fast minus the wiping out parts.

We have finished another project in our house. We built a storage room above our stairs in a huge empty space we had and you have to use a ladder to get up into it. It goes about 8 feet deep. We completely filled it up already as you can tell. It has been really good because we were able to move out a bunch of the junk we had in our 2nd bedroom just in time to get ready to make it a nursery!!

We have also been going to all of the BYU basketball games and watching the away games on tv. We were so sad when the last home game was last week and I won't talk about the rest :(. I am 13 weeks along now and I have just started to feel better this last week. Before that though I was having a hard time and some days were bad and some were good. I was having a lot of nausea and throwing up and I was having a hard time eating. I lost 7 pounds which I know won't last long. Last week at the doctor we heard the heartbeat of the baby for the first time and it definitely was there!! It is so neat to hear it and know for sure that there really is something inside of me that is growing. I am starting to get a little gut but you still can't tell if I have clothes on. They say that the 2nd trimester is people usually feel good so I should be getting into that stage soon :)

PREGNANT!!! Yes, it may be hard to believe but it has finally happened and Spencer and I are having a baby, well really just me, but you know what I mean. I am 8 weeks right now and due on September 11th. What a day to be having a baby, a day that everyone remembers for the tragedy that happened but who really knows what day the baby will really come. We are really excited and couldn't wait to tell people any longer. It has been kind of obvious because for the last 2 weeks I have been pretty sick and it is not just morning sickness, it is all day sickness. It is really saying something when I don't have any appetite whatsoever and all food sounds disgusting to me. I have lost at least 5 pounds already in the last couple weeks. Our pregnancy story started a year ago when me and Spencer first started trying and it was really frustrating that it wasn't working month after month. In December, we went to the doctor to find out what was wrong and they checked me and said I was good and then checked Spencer and said that his sperm motility (which is the ability for the sperm to penetrate the egg) was a little low but that it was nothing to be worried about. Well, after spending all the money for the tests and doctors, we got pregnant!! In fact, while we were at our appointment at the specialist in Salt Lake, I was already pregnant and didn't even know it. This saved me from the next step of having to get my uterus and tubes tested which I heard was painful so instead I have real pregnancy pain!! When I took the first pregnancy test, we didn't believe it and so I took another one the next day and same thing. We just couldn't believe that it had finally worked and the test really said pregnant. I hope that story wasn't too graphic. The Lord knows what He is doing and the baby must not have been ready to come until now. But we couldn't be more excited and we can't wait for it to be September!!

Christmas and New Year's

This last month has gone by so fast. I have had a hard time taking pictures because I have been having so much fun eating and partying with Christmas and New Years. This post is an update of all the festivities of the last month.

For New Years, Abby had a party at her house. It was so much fun to hang out, EAT, and play games. Me and Spencer were the only ones to stick around until Midnight and I am surprised that I was actually still awake and not very tired!!

Christmas day was a very busy day. Me and Spencer started off by opening up our presents for each other at home before heading to my parents to open more presents. Then it was off to Spencer's parents for even more presents and then to Grandma and Grandpa Faux's and Grandma and Grandpa Carter's. It was a busy but fun day with lots of presents. We are truly blessed to have the families that we have and couldn't have had a better Christmas. Also, we can't talk about Christmas without talking about the birth of Jesus and all that He has done for us and the blessings that the gospel brings into our lives. We know that we wouldn't be were we are today without the gospel and the Saviour. Now bring on the warm sunny weather!!!

This is my Christmas present from Spencer, he made the frame and everything, it is 18x24 and looks perfect at the bottom of my stairs. He wrapped it in the bottom of a very big box to trick me.

About a week before Christmas, we had a Johnson family Christmas party and this year we decided to go bowling. It was so much fun and I even broke 100! After bowling we went to Abby's house and had some of Mark's delicious homemade soup :) and played some fun Christmas games. It is so fun to be able to hang out with our families, especially at this time of year.

This last Sunday, we went up to Temple Square with Spencer's family to look at the lights. It was so pretty because it had finally snowed for the first time this year the night before. I love the spirit that I feel when at this special place and being around the beautiful temple.

Thanksgiving

For Thanksgiving, we went to my Grandma Nielsen's house because Janet and Julie were both in town with all of the cousins. It was so much fun to see all of them and hang out with them, and the food was so good (this has to be one of the best holidays because it is revolved around food!!). This year I am especially thankful for my very patient and loving husband Spencer who does so much for me and also my family, friends, the gospel, and BYU basketball. Life is good and I realize that I really am so blessed. Can't believe Christmas is right around the corner :). By the way, I didn't really get any good pictures on Thanksgiving, I was just too focused on the food.

On Halloween morning, me and all my sisters and Lisa (the head volleyball coach at Timpanogos) and Melissa's friend played in a volleyball tournament at Hunter High School. It was a fundraiser tournament for the tsunami in Samoa which was especially meaningful to Lisa because her mom died in the tsunami. It was so much fun to play for real again with a setter and rotations and everything. We played 6 straight matches winning 4 1/2 --split one match with a team and then lost our 2nd tournament game. It was fun playing with all my sisters and it was also kinda funny because we were basically the only white girls there and also the only girls wearing spandex and kneepads :) but it's volleyball, spandex goes with volleyball right?! Oh and I still got it ;)!!!!!!!!!

We went to 2 Halloween parties this year, the first was at Spencer's parents house and everyone dressed up, we roasted hot dogs, and it was a lot of fun. I unfortunately didn't get pictures of everyone's costumes but here are a few.

Hike to the Y

For BYU Homecoming, the Y was lit up and so we decided to hike up to it with Jen and Chris. It was a steeper hike than I remembered and even harder in the dark. But my headlamps were so sweet!!

Ok, so I know that there are a lot of pictures here but I love pictures and I can't decide which ones to leave out so I tried to eliminate some and here is what is left after sorting through them. My family and most of the Lohner family and their grandpa and Sharissa's friend Brittany went to Lake Powell over Fall Break and it was so much fun. I have never been to Lake Powell in October before so I was really worried about the cold but it was PERFECT!! Best weekend ever to go to Lake Powell, the weather was perfect, only a little colder at night and the water was still fairly warm. We used wet suits sometimes but it really was so nice and the water was the smoothest I have ever seen it. Also, there aren't very many people in October so maybe this should be a new tradition?!

Story for this picture: we were driving home Saturday night, almost to Hanksville, and my Dad driving the Yukon and boat in front of us hit an antelope going 80 mph. We slamed on our brakes as the poor, smashed and torn apart antelope poofed through the air after going underneath the Yukon and boat. Chris was pulling the jet skis behind us and had to swerve to miss hitting the back of us. It broke the radiator somehow and popped the tire on the trailer so we were delayed a couple hours trying to fix them just to get the rest of the way home. Me and Spencer driving the little Hyundai started in front and my Dad (lead foot) passed us only 20 minutes before the antelope ran out in front of us, makes us think about how much worse this could have been and how lucky we all were to be safe. Next time don't worry about the cows Dad, how about the antelope!! Definitely an experience to always remember!!

We had family pictures with the Johnson Family up at the castle above the State Hospital. So, these aren't the best pictures but I will post some more later when I get them from my Mom. She was our photographer and has much better pictures than the ones I took. I sure am married to a smokin' hot cowboy though!! He is a natural!!
